My Life This Week...So Far/Tanner swimming vids

Monday-6/22

    • Tanner's swimming lessons. They kept him in the higher level. Yeah! We'll see how he does.
    • Went to the movie at the theater. Kung Fu Panda. Yep seen it before, will probably see it again. We love it.
    • Got all my pictures off my camera. Took a while but it's done!

    Tuesday-6/23

    • Tanner's swimming lessons. He did Ok. Don't know that he'll progress enough to pass this time, but at least they didn't move him down. (The vids are all super short)

His teacher is Drew's friend from high school

He did better on his first swim across the pool but I didn't have the camera ready. He is a little tired on this trip.

Can't get the concept of no arms quite yet

    Better this time!

    • Movie at the library...Tale of Despereaux. Hadn't seen it before. Wasn't what I was expecting. It was ok.
    • The library called as soon as we got home from the movie. Our books on hold were in, so we went back down and got them.
    • Got all of my pictures put on my blogs of the vacation. Took all day. SUPER YEAH!!! They start on June 7th. Go ahead. Take a look. I'm not a great photographer, but some of them are actually rather good!

    Wednesday-6-24

    • Tanner swimming lessons. (Even shorter vids)

    Not quite comfortable

    The penguin dive/no help

    • Took Morgan to the doctor. He was afraid her cough was because of asthma. It wasn't! She just has junk in her lungs. Relief. He gave her meds and some nasty cough med for night time. She can't take it during the day he said because it does some funny stuff to ya. Hmmmm.
    • Read.
    • It's warm. But not as hot as it would be without my new curtains. It's such a short period that it gets warm in here I think we can live. We'll see what happens if we get hotter days than today.

    The Agony

I woke up this morning with a migraine. I got up, took numerous Advil, and put a heating pad on my feet. Yes. It works. It draws the blood from your head.

I have had migraines as far back as I can remember. I think writing before that I remember having one on my 6th or 8th birthday even. They aren't new to me. I lived and functioned with the pain for my whole life. After I had my hysterectomy 1 1/2 years ago, I didn't have one for 7 months!!! Seriously, 7 of the most glorious months of my life. Then I got one. I couldn't bear the pain. I couldn't function and couldn't figure how I had lived with that level of pain almost every single day of my entire life.

We went to church, I taught my lesson, went to Relief Society with Elaine, came home, ate dinner, layed down, slept. I'm sure I'm really good company for Dean and Elaine today.

    I'm going back to bed.

    A Boys Best Friend

Back when Tanner was just past 3, he was so ready to be out of diapers, but just wouldn't. I decided bribing was in order. I told him he could pick. He wanted a kitten, but not just ANY kitten, he wanted an orange kitten. I explained to him that we couldn't have a kitten because we lived in the city and so the kitty would have to be an inside part of the time (if not all the time) kitty and his daddy was allergic to cats. He insisted that that was all he wanted, an orange kitty. I told him he had to ask his dad. HIS DAD SAID YES!!!!! (I asked him if I had to remind him he was allergic?!) So it was agreed, he could get an orange kitty when he didn't wear diapers anymore.

So being a Sunday night, I said, "OK. You can wear a diaper to bed, but in the morning, you are going to the bathroom and then wearing big boy underwear all day. You aren't going to wear diapers during the day anymore. But you can wear one to bed if you want." He wore big boy underwear all day that whole week. He wore a diaper at night. The next Sunday night I told him, "You are done wearing diapers. This is the last night for a diaper. In the morning when you put on your underwear, you are wearing it all day AND wearing it to bed." That was the last diaper he ever wore. Now we had to find an orange kitty.

Now, normally there are orange kittens everywhere. I figured it would be no problem to find one for him. We looked for about 3-4 months, and not one orange kitten to be found. I thought, "Are you kidding me?" Every day Tanner asked when we were going to find his kitty. In July Gary saw an ad in the paper and called. No orange kittens. We went to look anyway since it was only a few blocks away. Tanner saw a white with gray patches one that he held and played with. We asked him if that was the one he wanted, and he said no, he wanted an orange one. So we left. About half way back to our house he started crying and said, "We need to go back and get my kitty." Me, "You said you wanted an orange one." "No! That one is my kitty! We have to go get him! " So we turned around and went back for his kitty. He named him Moose. I thought it was a strange name for such a tiny kitty, but it fits him.

Moose has never been allowed on the furniture or Wynn wouldn't be able to sit on it. (That doesn't mean he's never gotten on it!) He is allowed on Tanner's bed, we put a blanket on it that he can sleep on. When he was little he would crawl under the blankets and snuggle with Tanner. Sometimes I still find him doing that. He has a blanket on Morgans bed and occasionally on Gary's or Lexie's beds. He knows he can get on my ottoman in the family room to snuggle if there is a blanket on it, he leaves it alone if there isn't. He snuggles with the kids on their blankets on the floor...etc. He IS NOT allowed on our bed, period. And he doesn't get on there.
Moose downstairs with Tanner, on the blanket, on the couch.
(Notice him holding Mooses' tail so they are 'touching'?)

I swear this cat is 1/3 cat, 1/3 dog, and 1/3 human. He will come get you if there is something of yours that needs attention (he knows what belongs to who), everyone swears he says 'mom' instead of meow when he is wanting me, very human things of him to do. He can be very stand-offish and turn his back and ignore you if he is in cat mode and will let you know not to bother him.

    Moose in cat mode...ignoring me.

He has become very attached to Tanner. If Tanner is crying, you can hear Moose start meowing and here he comes from where ever he was at a dead run to make sure Tanner is OK. It doesn't matter where Tanner or Moose are at the time, one inside, one outside, or both in or both out. He always asks Tanner for a head to head rub to show love. It is so cute.
In the living room for a love from Tanner
He can be very nurturing, loyal and attached like a dog. To show this, I took some pictures this morning. Tanner spent the night in my bed and bathroom last night because he was sick. Puking all night long. This is what Moose did about it this morning after I got up.....
    On the bathroom floor
I walked in the room to check on Tanner. Since he wasn't there, I checked the bathroom. He was snuggled against Tanners tummy, but when I came back with the camera he had moved here. (Tanner put the pile of towels in front of the toilet so they would be soft to kneel on)
Then Tanner went back to my room and this what Moose did.

Yes. He is ON OUR BED!!! Remember, he is NOT allowed by Wynn. PERIOD!!!

(Wynn knew he was there and left him with Tanner! I put the blanket so it could be taken off and washed.)

Letting us know he isn't leaving Tanner.

Still on the bed when I got home from work. Where ever Tanner moved, Moose was right there....All day long!!!

(Wynn and Gary were both home with him)

So I don't think he cares now that his kitty isn't orange. I think he knew that day in the car that Moose is his kitty. You couldn't ask for a more loyal companion or best friend.

Are you sure I'm still among the living?

Well, I guess I do feel kinda undead. I was feeling better-ish yesterday, so I went to work, even though it was April fools day and I wasn't sure what kind of pranks would be played. None were, thank goodness.

I started not feeling well about time to come home, but not too bad, so I went with Gary to buy him a new watch. While we were shopping my head started to hurt, but not too bad. I mean really, I've had throw up migraines for as far back as I can remember. I even remember having one on my 7th or 8th birthday. I remember having it, I just don't remember what birthday. I only remember being in Luna for it and getting my Dawn doll. Oh well, none of that really matters. What I was getting at was I know what a real headache feels like, so this was just more of an annoyance than what I call a headache. Since my surgery 15 months ago, I get very few migraines. When I do get one, I can not understand how I kept functioning with such pain, other than I didn't know any different. I would get 4-5 a week, for as long as I can remember.

Anyway, Gary and I came home and I really started not feeling well. We went downstairs and I again curled up in a blanket with a heating pad. We watched The Fast and the Furious (the first one) and I loved it. But by the time it was over, I was really sick. I was freezing and wanted to pound a nail in my head to let the pressure out. If you've ever had a migraine, you'll understand what I mean, if not...well, you're lucky! I fell asleep in the chair for a while. When I woke up I dragged myself upstairs to bed after taking pain med. I woke up this morning feeling quite well.

I took Morgan in for her minor surgery at the periodontist. It went well. She is downstairs heavily medicated for pain. We stopped and picked up her prescriptions. We got home and I got a couple of things done. Gary and I watched The Rock. (Loved this one too) And I am now not feeling so well, and am wondering why I told the kids I would take them to the rec center!? I felt I needed to get on the treadmill and eliptical and really felt like going. But now my head is starting to hurt. I'm starting to sweat even though I am cold.....repeat of the last 3 days. My sister, Sandra, knows how I'm feeling. She's feeling it too.

Maybe I'll just go lie down. I'll let you know.

In like a lion, out like a

well......LION!!! What happened to the lamb part? Well, I think it was counted in a few random days of warm spring weather we had dispersed throughout the month. There were actual times that I left the house in tee shirt and jeans, perfectly comfortable. Today it is snowing, blizzard looking at times even. It is cold.

Working as a reading aide at Tanners' elementary school, I work with 2nd graders and kindergartners. The second graders come to us in the reading room where they are grouped with others at the same level. I do that with 2 different groups for 1/2 hour each. It is nice and toasty warm in that room. Almost too warm for the way we are dressed for the day, where, even though there are windows, you can forget the blizzard and cold outside while focusing on the kids. Then I work with the kindergartners for an hour, which means we go to their rooms. It is cold there. We wear sweaters or jackets and are too warm in the reading room for this very reason. Then we go back to the warm reading room for a 45 minute break, then kindergarten for another hour. I think this has contributed to our, the reading aides, colds throughout the year.

Today I was fine, until that last hour of kindergarten. In the first 1/2 hour I started getting really cold. I looked outside and noticed it was darker and really snowing. I figured that was why I was getting really cold. We moved rooms and were in the last 1/2 hour of the day. I was teaching the lesson when all of a sudden I felt very sick. I thought I was going to have to run for the bathroom. I told the kids I wasn't feeling well and needed them to really pay attention and focus. They were so good about it and I made it the last 10 minutes okay. I went to the reading room, got the kindergarten stuff switched for the next day (it takes only 2 minutes because I have it pulled a week in advance) and left for home. Though I'm not feeling quite as nauseous, I decided maybe I just needed to eat lunch, I am still freezing. My bones feel like ice. I am starting to get queasy again and I think I am going to go downstairs, curl up in a nice warm blanket or quilt with a heating pad, and watch something mindless on tv or the dvr. I really don't feel well.

I think I am going to blame it on the disappointment of March leaving like a lion instead of a lamb. I was really looking forward to the lamb. I guess I'll be grateful for the water this summer. But for now, I'm going downstairs.

    Aging isn't always fun

We all think we're going to be young forever. We're invincible. We grow up, get married, have kids & think they are going to be little...forever. Then the next thing we know, they are grown up & getting married, having kids of their own, and yet, we still feel that we are young, and the cycle just repeats and repeats for each generation. We look in the mirror and wonder who that old person is staring back at us. So watching friends, family, loved ones age, isn't easy. Of course, we are the ONLY one who isn't aging. We're not like all of our high school and college friends that have seemed to start looking so old.
Wynn's dad, Dean, got sick the end of last week. The way I understand it, he just got sick in the afternoon or evening, started not feeling well and throwing up. Elaine, Wynn's mom, called Wynn's sisters. They live nearby to them and help take care of them daily. She explained what was going on & they said to call the ambulance and get him to the hospital. She did. They did emergency surgery and removed his gall bladder. Wynn, Andy & Gary went down to Ogden to see him in the hospital Saturday. He was back to his regular self, teasing the nurses & feeling pretty good.
Our mortal bodies just don't seem to agree with our heavenly spirits, or mind, that refuses to grow older. The spirit feels like we're still 20, but the mortal parts are letting us know the warranty has expired. Time to get new, or just get rid of, various parts, some still needed and others that we wonder why we ever had them to begin with. We're glad that we have the technology to do such spur of the moment things to save us from further suffering. We are grateful Dean was able to pull through so quickly despite his malfunctioning gall bladder. Looks like he will be around a while still to wonder who the person is staring back at him from the mirror, because in his 80's, he still feels like he should be 20 you know.

    Sick, Sick, Sick

I did mention the other day that I was sick. I didn't go to church Sunday cause I couldn't stand up, just spent the whole time in the tub. I came home yesterday with a migraine. Don't get many of those anymore, just one day a month now for the last 3 months. Might have to do something about that if it keeps up.
Now Gary has the cold & so does Lexie & Morgan just aches, no HURTS, all over. But this morning, Tanner ran to my room, clear the other end of the house from his, past his bathroom, to my bathroom & started throwing up. 5AM!!!! Thank goodness he made it, I don't clean that up without someone having to clean up after me & Wynn leaves at 4:30. Tanner is sleeping now, in shorts & nothing else. Pants were too hot & shirts choke him when he is sick. Even an unbottoned button-up shirt. Drew, the best daughter in the world, had to go to work at 1. I get off at 1:15. See the problem. Her manager let her come in late so she could watch him for me. Thank goodness I didn't have to try to find a sub this morning, I was giving the first test to my kindergartners. Best manager in the world. She may have to do the same thing for me tomorrow, & she said that would be fine. Does this mean I have to make her that Halloween costume now?
